RTW: Melbourne, Australia: A little drop of French wine country

I’ve lived in Melbourne, and it’s your average city. Has a metro area of 4 million, with lots of ethnic neighborhoods, great food, and fairly decent public transportation.

Four definite seasons, but winter’s not so bad. I was there the first few days of the season, and was fine without a winter coat.

If you ever get out that way, be sure to check out a little bit of French wine country just outside the city, in the celebrated Yarra Valley. The climate and terrain produce wines and cheese that are said to seriously rival those found in France. Ooh-la-la!

Wineries abound.

Wine and chocolate. Now you’re talking!

Of course, cheese goes equally well with vin.

Absolutely fabulous.

And why not? It’s …this fresh

Like being in Provence
